Customer experiencing increasing runtime in findTrainingData step with OSS zingg—any similar cases?

I have a customer trying out OSS zingg and they are finding in one project that the findTrainingData step is taking longer and longer each time it runs

 took 4 mins, then 11, then 20 then 26 and still going. 

has this been experienced by anyone else?
